FINALLY. After about 36 hours of travel I arrived in Valencia at 8 pm yesterday. After about an hour of traveling I realized it was quiet. Quiet, because I wasn´t talking... GOSH I talk A LOT. I found it a little intimidating at first, this silence, but before I knew it my brain started in, talking to itself. It truly is amazing how much you can process through when you´ve got no one to talk to, the little corners in your brain that you´ve left alone for quite sometime. You go back, back to the things that you´ve forgotten and to the things not yet explored. It was fun, but the silence didn´t last long. When I got to DC I met some military guys from England who had been in Virgina playing rugby all week. They were really nice and were extremley impressed with my english accent... I recited some lines from Harry Potter, of course! :) ha ha Anyways, I was really thankful to have found them, because I was exhausted and wanted so badly to take a nap but was really afraid. They protected me though. They also told me lots of stories from thier time in Iraq and I learned a lot.
The plane ride wasn´t too bad and I did get some sleep, which is quite unusal for me. When we arrived in London there was a problem and so there we sat... me with less than 1.5 hours to get to my gate and get on the plane. I was a little scared, especially because my phone quit working right before I left D.C. Luckily I found this family who was also traveling to Madrid and went with them. The woman´s husband works in a University in Santander and she has been to London Heathrow a million times. Thank goodness for them, I really don´t know if I would have been able to do it by myself. I was still pretty scared when I got to Madrid because I didn´t have my phone, but I found Esteban just fine. :) We took the train and headed to Valencia and got there at about 8:30 pm.
Today has been a lazy day, probably best, although I really don´t think I´m jet lagged. Esteban and I went out for a walk, some café con leche mmmmm... and walked in the "río de turía" which is just like this garden/biking/walking/whatever trail. It was my FAVORITE place to go while I was here last time it is sooo beautiful with the palms, flowers, people biking, running, walking. I could walk there for hours... and you literally can because it goes around the entire city. Oh and of course I read the paper, well just the article on Honduras... I can´t believe everything thats going on, how I was just there. Honestly, I´m a little worried. I´m sure the families we stayed with are fine, but it just hurts me to know that this is going on in thier country. I don´t know if its all over the place in the papers at home... but it is here. Yesterday I think it was the front page on almost every newspaper.
Anyways, enough talking about this... it is too sunny and too beautiful for me to sit here and type the day away!! :)
