She´s ALIVE!
Oh MY! I realize it has been far too long since my last update... and I never even let you all know that I was home, alive and well! Hopefully you have already got the memo :) Starting at the end of August I have been student teaching at Mason High School, Spanish III and IV (juniors and seniors). For a 5ft 2in girl who looks like she is 17ish it has been... interesting, to say the least. I absolutely love the kids, they are great (most of the time)! I at least know I am in the right field which is a comforting feeling, I definitely need to be a teacher, I definitely need to speak Spanish... not sure of what exactly this will look like: high school teacher here? professor? teach english in another country? nor am I worried about not knowing. My experience thus far and constant self-reflection lead me to believe it will be one of the latter two, but after 21 (almost 22) years here in my little megan shoes I´ve learned to expect the unexpected. I wish I would have blogged consistently throughout the experience to tell funny stories etc., but it has been an exhausting semester. I wake up at 5 (usually), leave oxford at 5:45ish, get home at 4ish, re-adjust lesson plans, eat some grub... and then it is time for bed! At least now I´m finished with my Fulbright Application, my project for student teaching, and only have one project left (besides lesson planning on the weekend) before it is all over! I am so excited for Christmas, and to be a student again... even if I may have to take 20 hours. I found last night now-a-days I am a grumpy grumpy girl past 1 am. As you can probably imagine, I am excited and more than ready to return to my nocturnal tendencies. Late nights at the library, Kofenya, and consistent coffee drinking. I am also --don´t laugh-- excited to read for Spanish classes and even write papers! Almost there... Almost there... :)
